Over the last few days we have been celebrating our students’ Mothers by holding Mothers’ Day Teas. We practiced songs, potted plants, and created some lovely crafts to prepare for our special guests. After all, Mother’s Day is Sunday! With that said, have you gotten a gift for Mom yet? Running out of time to get something? Think twice about going to the store, and instead use some materials you may already have at home and make hand-made Mother’s Day Gifts.
Hand-Made Mother’s Day Gifts
Hand-Made Mother’s Day Gifts Cards
Only two items are needed for this one: construction paper and crayons! What better way to say Happy Mother’s Day to mom than creating a handwritten, personalized letter. Kids are able to go wild on the “I love you” hearts and stick people, and if they mess up, it’s okay, because construction paper is a lot cheaper than a store bought card.
Reasons That I Love You Jar
Another great gift for mom is a jar filled with reasons of why you love her. First, find a jar. Then, find some notebook paper or, to make it colorful, construction paper. Next, cut out strips of paper. If your child knows how to write, they can then write out 10-15 reasons why they love their Mom on pieces of paper. After, fold them up and stick them in the jar. Finally, find some ribbon around the house, wrap it around the jar, and give to mom. If your child is feeling extra creative, try making a tag that states “Happy Mother’s Day, Mom” for the jar!
Offer Your Services
Sometimes moms just need a break. Have your child make a coupon book to offer up their services. This project needs four supplies: construction paper, crayons, a scissors, and a stapler. First, cut 5-10 pieces of paper into the same shape. Then, write on each one. If your child knows how to write, let them do this. Some coupon ideas are: “A big hug”, “one clean room”, “breakfast in bed”, “a night off”, “one hour of no interruptions”, “dust the furniture”, or “feed and water the pet” just to name a few. After the coupons have been written out, children can then color and design. Finally, staple all the pages together and Voilà your child can gift a coupon book for Mother’s Day!
